Steven White, is an awesome writer, he is as good as Steven King. I have read several novels of Mr.Kings an Steve Whites. I lived in Maine several years and know of a lot of the places he talks about. The book had me from the first couple of pages, I had a hard time putting it down,every time I sat down I was I found myself picking up My reading his book.Good job Steve White. Now get started on your next one, please.
This is the first book I have read by Steven K White, and it will not be the last! I was hooked from the beginning, and finished the book in two nights. I am local to the area where many parts of the book take place, so I loved that I could actually visualize the areas he mentioned (Runaround Pond, OOB etc). It made it that much more realistic to me. If you love horror/suspense novels, you will enjoy this one.
Steven K. White positioned himself as very capable horror writer with his first novel, "Knightmare." With "Retribution," he rises to a new level and sets the bar extremely high for other horror writers. I was given a free copy in exchange for a review, and I was taken from the very first page. From the crisply written scenes to the sense of dread that just hangs over every page. Most horror novels seem to me to be a series of horrific events loosely tied together with a story. This is not the case with "Retribution." This is a character study of the main character, which is also, it turns out, part of the source of horror. A word of caution, don't read this before you go to sleep. I found that one out the hard way.
I thought I was buying a book by Stephen White. My bad!
I would not recommend to someone who wants a happy ending. Too dark for me.
A compelling page turner ! Super natural thriller set in the writers home state .
An absolute page turner. Steve White has hit it out of the park once again with Retribution, the follow up to his stellar debut novel Knightmare. Well developed characters and storytelling. A unique mind bending decent that you'll have a hard time putting down!
